AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a child pedestrian in Kings Park today.

An 11-year old girl was struck by a van while walking across Main Street in Kings Park.

Kings Park, NY - December 11th, 2015 - Holly Gallo, 11, of Kings Park, has been identified as the pedestrian struck in a motor vehicle crash on Main Street in Kings Park on December 5. Gallo died of her injuries on December 10.

Kings Park, NY - December 5, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a child pedestrian in Kings Park today.

An 11-year-old female was walking across Main Street when she was struck by an eastbound van driven by Willian Lopez, 52, of Freeport, at 11 a.m. The child was airlifted by a Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.  Lopez was not injured.

The van was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
