SPCA: Central Islip Woman Charged with Abandoning Dog in Middle of Roadway

Bay Shore, NY - December 6, 2018 - Suffolk County SPCA Detectives charged an Central Islip woman with abandonment on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018.
 
Barbara Pearson, 57, was charged with abandoning a 1 year old male Shih Tzu mix named Bubba. The dog was allegedly let out of a vehicle on South Denver Avenue in Bay Shore on November 19th, 2018, and the subject drove away leaving the dog running in circles, barking in the middle of the road. The dog was rescued  by a Good Samaritan who witnessed the entire incident. 
 
Pearson will appear in First District Court on February 15th, 2019.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
