Special Weather Statement issued January 6 at 10:50PM EST by NWS Upton NY Overnight into Tuesday morning, any wet spots are expected to freeze and become icy, thereby creating slippery conditions for untreated surfaces. In addition, some less traveled secondary roads may still have some residual snow. The winds increasing and becoming gusty may partially dry out residual moisture, but some icy spots will likely remain especially in locations with less wind. If encountering these conditions, proceed with extra caution. Drive extra slowly and allow for more space between vehicles.

Get into the spirit of the season by attending a concert and enjoy everything from jazz trios to solo guitarists performing traditional carols, original music, and new takes on Christmas classics. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis - Saturday, December 7th, 8pm. Chip Davis, founder and creator of Mannheim Steamroller, will celebrate the 35th Anniversary of his annual Christmas concert tour, making it the longest running consecutive concert tour in the entertainment industry. Location: Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville.

 

Holiday Concert - Sunday, December 8th, 2pm. Enjoy a holiday concert at Five Towns College Performing Arts Center. Location: Five Towns College Performing Arts Center, 305 North Service Road, Dix Hills.

 

Laurie Berkner with Susie Lampert: A Live Holiday Concert - Sunday, December 8th, 3pm. In her holiday shows, Laurie Berkner celebrates the season with such traditional, secular songs as “Jingle Bells” and “Frosty the Snowman,” plus originals from Laurie’s well-loved album A Laurie Berkner Christmas like “Santa’s Coming to My House Tonight.” Laurie pays tribute to Hanukkah with “Candle Chase” and “The Dreidel Song.”  She also performs an array of her greatest hits, such as “We Are the Dinosaurs,” “Victor Vito,” and “Pig on Her Head.” Location: The Paramount, 370 New York Avenue, Huntington.

Long Island Flute Club Holiday Concert - Sunday, December 8th, 1pm. Holiday favorites performed in the Ballroom by the Long Island Flute Club. No reservations required by seating is limited; included with admission. Location: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury.

 

Young at Heart: It's the Holiday Season - Wednesday, December 11th, 1pm. The Jazz Loft Trio performs music for the holidays in this monthly afternoon music series. Location: The Jazz Loft, 275 Christian Avenue, Stony Brook.

 

Long Island Chamber Music Festival Holiday Concert at Coe Hall - Friday, December 13th, 7pm. Long Island Chamber Music Festival and Planting Fields invite you to celebrate the holidays with a festive evening of chamber music in the comfort of Coe Hall. Join five of New York’s finest young musicians, drawn from Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect and Philadelphia’s Astral Artists roster, for renditions of Christmas and Hanukkah holiday favorites. In addition to all the carols you love, this enchanting concert will feature arrangements of folk songs and traditional baroque music for the rich combination of flute, horn, violin, cello, and double bass. Long Island Gay Men's Chorus - Make The Yuletide Gay - Friday, December 13th, 8pm. Celebrate the season with the Long Island Gay Men’s Chorus at “Make The Yuletide Gay!” on Friday, Dec. 13, an annual holiday concert featuring swinging seasonal favorites and satirical parodies that will have you hanging on every word and laughing all the way. Showtime is 8 p.m. Location: Cathedral of the Incarnation, 50 Cathedral Avenue, Garden City.

 

The Rockville Centre Choral Society Holiday Concert Celebrating the Seasons - Saturday, December 14th, 7pm. The Rockville Centre Choral Society, a South Shore Community Chorus, is presenting "Celebrating the Season", featuring a variety of Hanukkah and Christmas songs you will enjoy. Audience holiday sing along. Jean Stevenson, Director and Eliza DellMonica, accompanist. Location: St. James UMC, 11 St. James Place, Lynbrook.

 

Five Golden Rings Holiday Concert - Saturday, December 14th, 7pm. Long Island reSound Handbell Ensemble is celebrating our 5th year ringing together. Each ringers picked their favorite song. Location: First Presbyterian Church Of Babylon, 79 E Main Street, Babylon.

Annual Holiday Concert by the Sag Harbor Community Band and Long Island Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines -  Saturday, December 14th, 7:30pm. An evening of fun and festive music that is sure to get you in the Holiday spirit. Free admission but freewill donation will be taken. Bring your family and friends and enjoy. Location: Old Whalers' Church, 44 Union St, Sag Harbor.

 

Long Island Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra Holiday Concert - Sunday, December 15th, 1:30pm. Bring the whole family for an enchanting holiday musical celebration with the Long Island Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra.  Classic Christmas and Chanukah songs will be featured. The orchestra is comprised of mandolins, mandolas, guitars, mandocellos, mandobasso, string bass, drums, accordion and vocalists. Holiday Winter Concert - Sunday, December 15th, 2pm. The Band of Long Island, conducted by Michael Flamhaft, will be performing several of your favorite seasonal songs, including Sleigh Ride, White Christmas, A Menorah Medley, Winter Wonderland and a special holiday sing-a-long. Fun for the whole family! Location: Elmont Memorial Library, 700 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont.

Classical Christmas with the Long Island Concert Orchestra - Sunday, December 15th,4pm.
