Give Back: Where to Donate Your Coats on Long Island This Winter
Winter coats are an important item for people in need. We gathered a list of places for you to donate your new or gently used coats to help make someone else’s season a little warm and bright - and maybe your own too in the process.
Annual Town of Islip Youth Bureau Coat Drive - The Town of Islip Youth Bureau welcomes one and all to be a part of a great initiative to help our neighbors this winter, by participating in the annual Town of Islip Youth Bureau Coat Drive. Bring all new or gently worn coats of any size to the Town of Islip Youth Bureau located at 401 Main Street, Islip, and help those less fortunate stay warm. Coats will be distributed to people in need right here in our community, so check your closets, and help spread the warmth! Youth Bureau INTERFACE Annual Coat Drive - Coat drive runs from January 4 through February 1. New or gently used coats, scarves, gloves and hats sizes infant to adult are accepted. Hours of operation for the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau INTERFACE Program’s Annual Coat Drive are from 9am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Maureen’s Haven - They assist with providing homeless men and women with supportive services, access to case management and programs, and a safe place to stay during the winter months. You can drop off your gently used coats and other clothing to their day center. Location: 28 Lincoln Street, Riverhead, (631) 727-6831.
Options Thrift Shop - All donations should be in good condition, meet current safety standards, and be fully operational. Donations are only accepted on Thursdays and Saturdays.
