Julianna Gabrielsen earned the rank of Eagle Scout recently after completing her project at the Warrior Ranch Foundation in Riverhead, an organization that provides equestrian therapy for veterans and first responders who suffer from PTSD.
Gabrielsen built three tack boxes for supplies for the ranch, going to Home Depot, Lowes, and other building supply stores in the area to get them to donate all the material she and her more than 25 volunteers needed to complete the project. Gabrielsen also held a car wash at the Mount Sinai Fire Department in August 2021, raising $1,200 which she presented as a donation to the ranch.
At the December 1 Brookhaven Town Board meeting, Councilwoman Jane Bonner honored Gabrielsen who is a member of Boy Scout Troop 2019 in Sound Beach. She is only the second female Eagle Scout from the Suffolk County Council and the first from Troop 2019.
“Leadership, hard work, and dedication to the community are what it means to be an Eagle Scout,” said Councilwoman Bonner. “I commend Julianna for being a role model and helping to break down barriers so other young women can follow their dreams. She is a wonderful example for everyone to follow.”
