On Tuesday, December 5 at 11am Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon, Jr., was joined by photographer Saskia Keeley, former incarcerated individuals, and various jail service providers to unveil the “Dignity” Photo Exhibit at the Yaphank Correctional Facility.

Over the summer, incarcerated men and women placed in the Sheriff’s Addiction Treatment Program participated in a 4-week photography class with photographer Saskia Keeley.

The program was designed for incarcerated individuals to discover dignity through learning photography skills and ultimately developing a self-portrait.  Their final pieces, as well as their words on what they learned during the exercise, will be displayed in the visiting lobby of the Yaphank Correctional Facility throughout the month of the December.

Anyone visiting loved ones at the correctional facility will be able to view the portraits during the holiday season.
