The First Squad reports the arrest of an East Meadow woman for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 1:05 pm in Merrick.
According to Detectives, officers responded to Starbucks located at 1713 Merrick Avenue for a disturbance involving a female refusing to leave. Upon police arrival, officers observed defendant Michele Peltz, 39, of 861 Preston Road inside the establishment carrying a blue crate containing a cat.
Officers requested she vacate the premise; at which time she punched the officer striking him in the left eye causing an injury. A struggle ensued but the officer was able to subdue the defendant and place her under arrest. The officer additionally sustained a hand injury. The officer and the defendant were both transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment.
Defendant Michele Peltz is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Trespassing. She will be arraigned on Thursday, December 7, 2023 in First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
