AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a man who attempted to steal merchandise from a Centereach store last month.

Centereach, NY - December 9th, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a man who attempted to steal merchandise from a Centereach store last month.

A man walked into the Walmart, located at 161 Centereach Mall, Centereach, on November 25, 2014 and placed video game equipment and a cosmetics gift box into a shopping bag. When the man attempted to exit the store without paying for the merchandise, a security guard grabbed the bag from him, but the suspect got away and fled in a gray or silver minivan with Pennsylvania license plates.

The suspect is described as an 18- to 25-year-old black male, six feet tall, with a heavy build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and light-colored cargo pants.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
