AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

Nesconset, NY - December 10, 2013 - Over the course of the last week, Legislator John M. Kennedy, Jr., Minority Leader of the Suffolk County Legislature, took part in several holiday events in celebration of Chanukah and the upcoming Christmas Holiday.
 
On Tuesday, Legislator Kennedy attended the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce Chanukah Celebration at the Nesconset Gazebo and then the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce Chanukah Lighting at RaynorPark, while on Wednesday, Legislator Kennedy paid a visit to the Centereach Civic Association for their Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony. 
 
Looking ahead, on Saturday December 7, 2013, the Smithtown Historical Society will be holding its Christmas Festival at the Brush Barn from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Veterans Plaza at the Kings Park Library at 4:00 p.m., and then the Saint James Chamber of Commerce Annual Tree Lighting Deepwells Farm Park at 4:30 p.m. 
 
Finally, at 6:00 p.m., Legislator Kennedy will be taking part in the Third Annual 9/11 Responders Remembered Park Tree Lighting Ceremony, located in Nesconset at the corner of Gibbs Pond Road andSmithtown Boulevard. To further the holiday spirit, there will be holiday carols, seasonal refreshments andthe Nesconset Fire Department will be bringing Santa Claus to visit with all the children.
