AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert regarding a missing Coram man who recently had lung surgery.

Update - December 11th, 2013 at 2:03 PM - Earlston Burrows was located unharmed.

Coram, NY - December 11th, 2013 - The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert regarding a missing Coram man who recently had lung surgery.

Earlston Burrows, 82, of 30 Ridge Road, Coram, was last seen leaving his home in his car at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10. Burrows was travelling in a 1999 green Mercury Cougar with New York license plate number Y187WG.

Burrows is described as a black male with salt and pepper-colored hair. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He was wearing black pants, black shoes and a blue knit cap.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.

As a reminder, the Silver Alert is a program implemented in Suffolk County that allows local law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have gone missing.
