AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred at 7:17am in Valley Stream on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

Valley Stream, NY - December 11, 2014 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred at 7:17am in Valley Stream on Thursday, December 11, 2014.

According to Detectives, Police Officers responded to northbound S. Franklin Avenue at W. Merrick Road for a 12 year old male victim struck by a 2003 GMC Yukon operated by Austin Soldano, 29, of 3916 Ralph Street Seaford. The victim was transported to Long Island Jewish Medical Center and was pronounced by Dr. Rocker at 8:10am.  There was no criminality involved in the accident.

Defendant Austin Soldano was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.  He will be arraigned today, December 11, 2014 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.

Defendant Soldano was additional charged with Unlicensed Operator, Aggravated Unlicensed 3rd degree and Aggravated Unlicensed 2nd degree.
