Two Arrested in Connection with Hempstead Shooting Death, NCPD Officials Report

Hempstead, NY - December 11, 2018 - The Homicide Squad reports two arrests on Tuesday, December 11 in connection with a Homicide that occurred on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Hempstead.
 
According to detectives, Hempstead Police responded to Wellesley Street for a call for two male victims that had been shot. Both victims were transported to area hospitals. One of the victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. The other victim, Demetrius Winfield of Hempstead, 30, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff at 11:28 a.m.
 
Defendants Jamik Q. Cannon of Hempstead, 26, and Brian Marquis Marshall Gibson of S. Floral Park, 23, have been arrested for the above listed crime. Both Defendants are each charged with one count of Murder 2nd Degree and Attempted Murder 2nd Degree. They will be arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
