Special Weather Statement issued January 6 at 10:50PM EST by NWS Upton NY Overnight into Tuesday morning, any wet spots are expected to freeze and become icy, thereby creating slippery conditions for untreated surfaces. In addition, some less traveled secondary roads may still have some residual snow. The winds increasing and becoming gusty may partially dry out residual moisture, but some icy spots will likely remain especially in locations with less wind. If encountering these conditions, proceed with extra caution. Drive extra slowly and allow for more space between vehicles.

Long Island, NY - December 13, 2017 - The year 2017 has been an extraordinary one.  So much so, it has inspired the Fair Media Council to unveil a new program called the Newsmaker of the Year Awards.
 
“The program is designed to recognize true leaders, those who step up when the easy thing would be to simply step aside,” said Jaci Clement, CEO and Executive Director of the Fair Media Council. “The bold, fearless ones who have helped shape 2017 on every level are who we are looking to recognize.
 
Entries are due by Jan. 26. Nominations may be made for oneself as well as for others. There is no entry fee, and no age requirement. Candidates may work in any industry and reside anywhere. A 500-word essay on why the candidate deserves such distinction is necessary, as is a bio. Links to media coverage are recommended, but not required.
