Suffolk Sheriff’s Office to Hold Graduation Ceremony for 52 New Correction Officers

On Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a graduation ceremony for 52 new Correction Officers at the Van Nostrand Theatre on the campus of Suffolk County Community College.  
 
The Correction Officers spent the last 13 weeks in a rigorous training program that included instruction in security and supervision, defensive tactics, legal issues, implicit bias training, essential services, chemical weapons and firearms, role play, and more. These officers join a force consisting of 837 Correction Officers working in the Suffolk County Correctional Facility. 
 
During the ceremony, several awards will be presented to the members of the graduating classes including Sheriff Toulon’s Award for Academic Excellence. 
 
Notable graduates include: 
  • Former intern of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office   
  • Three graduates with dual citizenships (Ecuador, Poland, Liberia) 
  • 40 graduates with corrections and law enforcement family members
