Meet This Week's Adorable Adoptables: Lucy, Colby and Keanu
LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.
We love Lucy! This adorable 6 year old Collie mix was adopted from a local shelter when she was a puppy. Lucy grew up with her family, with children, and seniors. Behavior issues arose that were not addressed, and fast forward 6 years- Lucy finds herself surrendered by the only family she's ever known.
Lucy is a very smart pooch who knows multiple commands, is housetrained and crate trained and even likes other dogs! Lucy is very sweet, but shy when first meeting you. She warms up very, very quickly though and then loves attention. Her previous family complained of issues with children, so the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is recommending her for a home with kids 17 and up. It's very upsetting to see a beautiful girl like Lucy living in a shelter after all these years, but her true forever family is out there for her. Please call for more information: 516-785-5220, or come visit at 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh NY.
For the feline fans out there, check out Colby. This gentle, loving adult male was rescued from a boarded-up house in Suffolk after an eviction. Despite his traumatic experience, after only a day with at Last Hope Animal Rescue he was purring and rolling over to have his belly rubbed! Colby would make a super addition to your family! For more information, check out his webpage.
Also available for adoption at Last Hope is Keanu! This very friendly, gorgeous, lovable little guy was born May 2016 and is ready to leap into your arms and purr up a storm! Keanu and his sister (recently adopted) were rescued, home fostered, and vetted and now Keanu would love nothing more than to find his forever home! Come by and see if this little guy will be your new best friend. For more information, check out his webpage.
As always, thanks for reading. Please remember to always adopt, never shop...pass it on!
