Special Weather Statement issued December 21 at 10:02AM EST by NWS Upton NY Areas of 2 to 5 inches of snow have been reported across northeast New Jersey, NYC, Western Long Island, the Lower Hudson Valley, and parts of western Connecticut. Wind gusts may peak around 30-35 mph this afternoon and may persist into the early evening before weakening early tonight. Conditions during this time are expected to lead to blowing snow already on the ground. This can lead to quickly reduced visibilities on roadways. Any untreated surfaces may remain snow- covered and icy into this evening, leading to hazardous driving conditions. Leave plenty of space between you and other drivers and drive at reduced speeds.

Sunflower Cafe & Bakery Has opened its doors at the former Bayport location of the popular Le Soir Restaurant, Whose closing at the end of November 2023 saddened local residents who were big fans of the esteemed French eatery.
 
A new tenant quickly swooped in to the location, situated at 825 Montauk Highway, and after some renovations and a redesign, Sunflower Cafe & Bakery opened their doors for business on Tuesday, December 12.
 
The establishment, which is family run, offers Brunch, lunch, and dinner, with the owners promising diners in the area that they will endeavor to continue Le Soir's legacy by keeping “the tastes of France in Bayport.” To that end they are sourcing the ingredients for their dishes from local farms, fishermen, and businesses, and offers a variety of traditional French food as well as numerous American favorites as well.
 
Brunch dishes consist of a variety of delicious meals including crepes, quiche, mushroom turnover, croque monsieur sandwiches, French toast, Belgian waffles, and eggs benedict. Lunch offerings include lobster rolls, tarragon chicken salad with walnuts, soups of the day, and a variety of elaborate tossed salads that assure to tickle your taste buds. And for dinner, sumptuous meals such as roast duck, filet mignon tenderloin, mussels, and shrimp risotto are sure to send you home happy and full.
 
Attempting array of desserts are also on offer, and while the restaurant is still waiting to receive their liquor license, patrons in the meantime are permitted to bring their own bottles of wine - which is essentially a requirement when it comes to French cuisine - if they choose to do so.
 
Sunflower Cafe & Bakery's days of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
