AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. NCPD Crime Alert: Suspects Wanted for Flower Hill Armed Robbery

Flower Hill, NY - December 16th, 2013 - The Third Squad is investigating a Robbery that occurred in Flower Hill on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 9:45 P.M.

According to detectives, a 51 year old male was operating a 2013 Land Rover at Stonytown Road and Chanticlare Drive when his vehicle was struck by an unknown older model dark colored SUV occupied by four unknown male Hispanics. The victim pulled over to inspect the damage to his vehicle when two of the males displayed handguns. The subjects then removed the victim’s wallet, jacket containing the key fob for the vehicle and an undetermined amount of U.S. currency and pushed him to the ground. They then fled in the vehicle westbound on Stonytown Road.

A Third Precinct police officer observed the vehicle at Northern Boulevard and Community Drive in Manhasset where the subjects intentionally struck the marked police unit to evade apprehension. The officer was not injured and the vehicle fled westbound onto the Long Island Expressway. The stolen vehicle was located unoccupied at Queens Boulevard and 62nd Street in Woodside where an extensive search was conducted by both Nassau County Police and the New York Police Department with negative results. The vehicle was impounded and the victim treated for a minor back injury. There is no further description of the subjects or the vehicle they were operating.
