Mount Sinai SADD Club helped make the holiday season brighter for others.

Mount Sinai, NY - December 16, 2015 - The Mount Sinai SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club once again partnered with Holiday Magic to bring holiday cheer. On Wednesday, December 9th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the SADD Club for their Holiday Magic Dinner at the Mount Sinai High School where the club presented holiday gifts to less fortunate children and families. This year, the club was able to bring cheer to 67 children.

“During this time of year our thoughts turn to helping those in need, especially children,” said Legislator Anker.  “I congratulate all of the students involved in today’s program for their dedication to others and thank them for their efforts in helping to make the holidays brighter.”

The SADD Club, along with teacher advisors John McHugh and John Wilson, raised $8,500 at the Annual Turkey Trot held in November. Optimum Community, as part of the Charity Champions program, also contributed $1,500 which brought the donation total to $10,000 for Holiday Magic.

Holiday Magic is a not-for-profit organization founded by Charlie Russo in 1990. The goal of the organization is to provide holiday generosity and spirit to the less fortunate on Long Island. Mr. Russo attended the dinner to thank the students and encourage continued philanthropic efforts by the school. This year, Holiday Magic will help over 11,000 children across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. For more information about Holiday Magic, please visit http://www.holidaymagicli.org.
