SPCA: Amityville Woman Was Arrested For Animal Cruelty After Neglecting Her Pit Bull

Amityville, NY - December 18, 2017 - On December 16th, 2017 Suffolk County SPCA Detectives arrested an Amityville woman for cruelty to animals.
 
Shannon King, 31, was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty for failure to provide proper sustenance including food, water and veterinary care, to a 1 year old male pit bull. The dog was emaciated and was covered with open sores.
 
King was arraigned on December 16th, 2017. She was released on her own recognizance with the condition that she is not permitted to possess any animals. King is to appear in Amityville Justice Court on Tuesday, December 19th, 2017.  
 
Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
