The former site of the now-shuttered Jolly Fisherman in Roslyn has been purchased by the Poll Brothers, a restaurant group that currently owns seven restaurants on Long Island.
Located at 25 Main Street, the Jolly Fisherman was a well-known dinner spot in Roslyn, originally opening their doors for business in 1957 and finally shuttering them for good in June 2023 after 66 years.
The location was bought last year shortly after closing, but the new restaurant that opened there - Pietro’s - failed to last more than eight months before also calling it a day.
Aside from the Jolly Fisherman, the Poll Brothers - Gillis and George - also own three other Roslyn eateries- Hendricks Tavern, Bryant and Cooper and Toku. In addition, they also run Bar Frites in Greenvale, Cipollini in Manhasset, The Bryant in Huntington Station, and Major’s Steakhouse in East Meadow; an eighth restaurant owned by the duo is located in Florida.
The name, design, and type of cuisine that the Poll Brothers have in store for the firmer Jolly Fisherman site is currently now known; the majority of their current establishments serve a variety of dishes, ranging from steak to Asian fare.
