Freeport Man in Custody After Allegedly Firing Illegal Handgun into Air in Rockville Centre Parking Lot

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Freeport man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 2:16 am in Rockville Centre.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to the parking lot of a commercial business located at 525 Merrick Road for possible shots fired.  Responding officers were informed that a male subject had removed a gun from his jacket pocket and fired it into the air before fleeing the scene.  Upon investigation, shell casings were recovered from the ground.  No injuries were reported.
 
Subsequent to the investigation, Felix Hernandez Morales, 26, of 27 Harrison Avenue, was located at his residence on December 17, 2024 at 4:45 pm and placed into custody for the above incident. During the investigation, officers recovered a black Beretta APX 9mm handgun.
 
Defendant Felix Hernandez Morales is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
