The Nassau County Legislature recently honored Nassau County Police Department Officer Wayne Resnick from the 4th Precinct as their Top Cop for December 2022. Officer Resnick was diagnosed with ALS in April of 2022 yet continued to show up for work for as long as he was able to.

“Officer Resnick has shown a remarkable amount of courage, and bravery just by facing this terrible disease and continuing on with his job,” Legislator Denise Ford, chair of the Public Safety committee said. “The courage that Officer Resnick and his family have displayed since his diagnosis is a testament to his character and is an inspiration to all. He is not only our Top Cop for December 2022, but also for the entire year of 2022.”

Officer Wayne Resnick started his Nassau County career in December of 1994 with the Communications Bureau. He then became a Nassau County Corrections Officer in March of 2002, before becoming a member of the Nassau County Police Department in the 4th Precinct on January 4th, 2008. He has received numerous recognitions for his excellent police service to the residents of Nassau County.
