AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

The Eighth Squad reports a Robbery that occurred on Wednesday, December, 20, 2023 at 5:27pm in Bethpage.
 
According to Detectives, two subjects entered the Shop Rite located at 3901 Hempstead Turnpike and began to select and conceal food items and pass all points of purchase without rendering proper payment. The loss prevention employee observed and approached the female subject; she relinquished the items and fled the store in an unknown direction.  
 
When the employee approached the male subject, he refused to return the items. As the two men entered the office a struggled ensued; the employee now victim, 22, was pushed into a wall causing an abrasion, pain and swelling to his shoulder. At that time, the female subject entered the office and sprayed the victim directly in the face with an unknown substance similar to ‘pepper spray’ causing substantial pain and swelling to the victim’s eye. Both of the subjects fled the store and were observed entering a black colored vehicle that fled eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his injuries. 
 
The subjects are described as a black male and a black female both approximately thirty years of age. The male was wearing blue colored clothing and the female gray colored clothing. No further description at this time.
