AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Farmingdale troopers attempted to stop a gray Saab for speeding on the eastbound Southern State Parkway near exit 31(Bethpage Parkway).

Amityville, NY - December 23, 2014 - Farmingdale troopers attempted to stop a gray Saab for speeding on the eastbound Southern State Parkway near exit 31(Bethpage Parkway).  The Saab accelerated and continued eastbound on the Southern Parkway before exiting at exit 36(Straight Path).  Troopers were able to read the license plate on the Saab before troopers lost sight of the vehicle.  The registration check on the Saab came back to 4 East Smith Street in Amityville.  Troopers patrolled to the address where they arrested Michael Richardson, age 30, of that same address, who admitted to driving the vehicle.

The defendant was charged with Reckless Driving(Misdemeanor), DWI(Misd.), Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree(Class A Misd.), Reckless Endangerment(A Misd.), Misdemeanor Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and several traffic violations including speeding(117 mph in a 55 zone).  Mr. Richardson was held for arraignment in Nassau County First District Court.
