New Hyde Park, NY - December 26th, 2013 -  The Arson/Bomb Squad reports the details of a fire that occurred on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in New Hyde Park.

According to detectives, the Lakeville/Manhasset Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 1111 Marcus Avenue, building 6, for a working fire. Nine fire trucks and approximately 40 fire personnel arrived at the location where they discovered the fire had been extinguished by a fire suppression system in the building. The fire was contained to one room and originated in a garbage pail at one cubicle station in that room. The entire building sustained extensive water damage from the sprinkler system.  The cause of the fire appears to be accidental at this time. The investigation is on going.
