AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Emergency Rescue of Three Boaters Made at Seadog Creek on Christmas Day

Wantagh, NY - December 26th, 2013 - The Public Information Office reports the details of a water emergency rescue that occurred on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. in Point Lookout.

According to police, a 911 call was received for a water emergency near Point Lookout, in Seadog Creek. The Town of Hempstead Bay Constable, U. S. Coast Guard, and Nassau County Marine and Air Bureau responded to the location to conduct a search for three male duck hunters. The Town of Hempstead Bay Constables located the disabled vessel with two victims, 39 years old and 55 years old, still on board. The Constables towed the vessel to West Marina. Nassau County Police Helicopter 5 continued to search the area and located the third victim stranded in the marsh. The helicopter was able to land on the marsh and remove the 40 year old victim.  There were no injuries reported.
