Officials: Far Rockaway Woman Arrested After Assaulting Nassau County Police Officer
Inwood, NY - December 26, 2018 - The Fourth Squad reports the Arrest of a Far Rockaway woman for Assault that occurred on Monday, December 24, 2018 at 6:17 a.m. in Inwood.
According to detectives, police responded to a radio assignment for a large fight in front of a residence on Bayview Ave. Upon arrival, police broke up the fight and started an investigation. During the course of the investigation, the defendant, Naomi Merle, 22, began acting erratically, screaming and threatening officers. When officers attempted to place the defendant into custody, she punched and kicked an officer, causing pain to her face and stomach. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The defendant was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be marijuana.
The police officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Naomi Merle is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. She will be arraigned on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
