FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR NORTHEASTERN NASSAU AND WEST CENTRAL SUFFOLK COUNTIES At 351 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. The Third Squad reports the arrest of a New Cassel man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at 9:29 pm in New Cassel.
 
According to Detectives, Officers responded to a disturbance at 8 Holly Lane. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Jose Anibal Moreno Rodriguez, 59, of 720 Broadway was involved in a verbal argument with a male victim, 25. The defendant displayed a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times causing a deep laceration to his abdomen. The victim and defendant were both transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. The victim is listed in stable condition. The defendant was arrested without incident.
 
The defendant Jose Anibal Moreno Rodriguez is charged with Assault 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He was arraigned on Monday, December 25, 2023 in First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
