Suffolk Executive Bellone, Police Commissioner Remind Residents to be Vigilant after Recent Vehicle Thefts
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Suffolk County Police Acting Commissioner Risco Mention-Lewis reminded residents during a recent press conference of the importance of locking vehicles after a recent uptick in vehicle thefts.
Suffolk County Police responded to eight vehicle thefts since December 19 during which the vehicles were left unlocked or with the key fob inside. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, officials are reminding residents to take the extra step to lock vehicles so you don’t risk someone stealing your vehicle that may also have valuables including recently purchased holiday presents inside.
Additionally, police will continue an enhanced presence at shopping malls and centers to ensure public safety as well as increased DWI patrols to ensure residents are driving responsibly.
