Three Men Arrested While Attempting to Steal Mail from Merrick Post Office, Cops Say

The First Squad reports on the arrest of three men for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Monday, December 26, 2022 at 2:09 AM in Merrick.
 
According to Detectives, three subjects traveling in a white 2020 Honda Accord were observed by First Squad Detectives pulling up to the Merrick Post Office located at 2000 Fisher Avenue. 
 
The two passengers, defendant’s Noah Aranzamendi, 24, of 230 Schafer Street, Brooklyn and Ralph Aranzamendi, 30 of 15506 85th Street, Howard Beach, exited the vehicle and approached the mail drop box. They opened the box and began to remove all the envelops contained inside. 
 
Detectives approached the two defendants and placed them under arrest without incident. 
 
The driver, defendant Angel Martinez, 31, of 10 Richman Plaza, Bronx, fled the scene in his vehicle but was stopped a short time later near the intersection of Washington Street and Stuyvesant Avenue and placed under arrest without further incident. 
 
Upon further investigation it was found that defendant Noah Aranzamendi was also responsible for a previous larceny that occurred on Monday, December 19, 2022 located at 2000 Fisher Avenue. 
 
Defendant’s Angel Martinez and Ralph Aranzamendi are both charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Possession of Burglars Tools, Criminal Tampering 1st Degree, three (3) counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree and two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree. In addition, defendant Angel Martinez is also being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. 
 
Defendant Noah Aranzamendi is charged with three (3) counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, two (2) counts of Possession of Burglars Tools, two (2) counts of Criminal Tampering 1st Degree, three (3) counts of Petit Larceny, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree and three (3) counts Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree. 
 
They will be arraigned on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
