Man Arrested for Beating Dog with Bat
Suffolk County Police said that they have arrested a man from Dix Hills after he allegedly beat a dog several time with a baseball bat, cause serious injury to the animal.
On December 22, a man discovered a Labrador mixed breed at 800 Deer Park Avenue. The dog had serious injuries, including fractures on its head and face, as well as trauma on its body as well as a broken forearm.
Police transported the dog to an emergency veterinary clinic and then to an animal hospital where it was treated for the injuries.
Second Squad detectives investigated the beating, and arrested Steven Errante in Mastic around 7 p.m. on Friday. Errante, 26 of Dix Hills, had previously been arrested for assaulting an adult male.
Errante was held overnight at the 2nd Precinct. He was scheduled for arraignment on Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Errante is facing charges of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals under the NYS Agricultural and Markets Law, and Assault 2nd Degree. Police are looking for more information regarding the case, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252.

NCPD Assists in Capture of North Carolina Fugitive
The Fugitive Squad, along with the U.S. Marshalls, arrested a fugitive from North Carolina in Hempstead on Friday at 7:20 a.m.
According to officials, Dwayne M. Mccluney of Charlotte, was located and arrested on West Graham Avenue. 36-year-old Mccluney was wanted on charges of Statutory Rape, Indecent Liberties with a Child and Sex Offense-Parental Role.
Mccluney was also charged with Fugitive From Justice, and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday. He is being held for North Carolina Authorities.
