AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT MONDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Man Killed in Two Vehicle Crash in Bay Shore, According to SCPD

Officials: A utility truck traveling westbound on Union Boulevard collided with a pick-up truck that was traveling northbound.

SCPD are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a man in Bay Shore.

Bay Shore, NY - December 28, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a man in Bay Shore on Thursday, December 27.
 
Gilbert Lollis was driving a 2013 Chevy utility truck westbound on Union Boulevard when his vehicle collided with a 1990 Ford pick-up truck that was traveling northbound on Saxon Avenue at approximately 1:15 p.m.  
 
Lollis, 53, of Bellport, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the pick-up, John Harris, 63, of Brentwood was transported to Southside Hospital where he was treated and released.
 
Safety checks will be performed on both vehicles. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
