Written by Lon Cohen  |  08. January 2024

Patience is a virtue but when it comes to food, we just can’t help but get excited when we hear about a new restaurant opening. These food spots are opening on Long Island in 2024 and we are excited to try every single one.

Press 195 in Plainview -  The owners of Press 195 gave LongIslandRestaurants.com a little more info on the opening of their new spot in Plainview at the old Prime Burger Bar at 1048 Old Country Road in Morton Village Plaza. Prime Burger Bar opened in 2022 but did not make it in the space for long, closing earlier this year. Click here for the story.

Mesita Mexican Restaurant in Amityville - Their Port Washington location just opened and it’s fabulous but we’re really psyched to see what they do with the old CHase bank building in Amityville. We are told they will be preserving the old bank vault.

Strong Island Burgers in Setauket - The owners of Maui Chop House Food Truck and Chico’s Tex Mex are opening a new burger joint together called Strong Island Burgers on Route 25A in Setauket. Click here for the full story.

The new Tullulah’s on Main Street in Islip - Earlier this year, Tullulah’s announced plans to move from its location on 4th Avenue in Bay Shore to a more prominent spot on West Main Street. Click here for more details.

Ray’s Pizza going into the long-abandoned KFC in Port Jefferson Station - A pizzeria – called Ray’s Pizza – is being built on the long vacant Kentucky Fried Chicken property on the southeast corner of Route 112 and Hallock Avenue in Port Jefferson Station. Click here for more details.

Lucharitos Tex-Mex in Mineola - Marc LaMaina is building quite the restaurant empire across Long Island and it seems he has no plans to stop anytime soon. In an interview with LongIslandRestaurants.com, LaMaina dished on some details about the Lucharitos Tex-Mex restaurant he’s building in Mineola. Click here for more details.

Daisy’s Nashville Lounge in Miller Place - The rumors are true! The owners of Daisy’s Nashville Lounge are gutting the old Recipe 7 spot in North Country Plaza (the same shopping center as Friendly’s) off Route 25a in Miller Place and plan to open sometime in early 2024. Click here for the whole story.

Ixchel Mexican Cuisine in Setauket - The owners of Ixchel Mexican Cuisine hope that their new restaurant – set to open in early October at the former Old Field Barbecue spot – will fill the niche of authentic sit-down, full service Mexican food in East Setauket. Click here for the story.

Para Todo Bien in Bay Shore - Verde Kitchen & Cocktails in Bay Shore is expanding into a new spot being built out at the old location of Peninsula Asian Fusion on Main Street. Along with an increase in size (the new space will be almost three times larger than Verde is currently, according to co-owner Anthony Tartaglia) and a cool rooftop seating area, the name will get an update as well. They’re calling it Para Todo Bien. Click here for the story.

Plado Tasting Bar - Chef German Rizzo is bringing his East Village small plate restaurant concept to Long Island early next year. Rizzo, who was born in Italy and traveled throughout Europe to perfect his craft, landed in New York where he worked as the executive chef for the Cipriani Group. In 2019, he opened Plado Tasting Bar in Manhattan. Now he’s planning to open another Plado in a spot he acquired in Glen Cove.  Click here for the full story.

Firehouse Restaurant & Bar in memory of FNDY Lt. Joseph P. DiBernardo in Former Hartlin Inn Spot - It’s been a long time coming for the DiBernardo family who purchased the business at 30 New York Avenue in Sound Beach over two-and-a-half years ago. It used to be the Hartlin Inn, a beloved institution in the neighborhood until the former owners called it quits after the pandemic. They hope to open early 2024. Click here for the story.

Elaine’s Restaurant and Bar taking over Tai Show North space in Setauket - Elaine Micali is back. After presiding over one of the most beloved local spots for years as manager at Pentimento Restaurant in Stony Brook, the restaurateur who says “food is in her blood” has signed a lease at 316 Main Street in Setauket and is currently building out Elaine’s Restaurant and Bar set to open in the Spring.
