The Homicide Squad reports that an arrest has been made in connection with a Fatal Vehicular Accident that originally occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 10:06 PM in Hewlett.
According to Detectives, a pedestrian, Jeffrey Frank, 74, of Hewlett, was crossing Broadway in the vicinity of 1345 Broadway when he was struck by a dark colored SUV traveling northbound on Broadway. According to witnesses, a male driver of the SUV exited his vehicle, dragged the victim to the side of the road, re-entered his vehicle and fled the scene. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced by a hospital physician.
Following an investigation, Defendant Yonatan Cohen, 21, of 1604 Moffitt Avenue, Hewlett has been arrested for the above listed incident. He is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident. He will be arraigned on Monday, December 30, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
