Two Dead After Fire Engulfs New Hyde Park House, According to Authorities

New Hyde Park, NY - December 31, 2018 - Arson/Bomb Squad detectives report the details of a house fire that occurred on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 03:06 A.M. in New Hyde Park.
 
According to detectives, the New Hyde Park Fire Department responded to a call for a house fire on 12th Street. The house was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. At the time of the fire there were five occupants residing inside. Two of the occupants were uninjured. The other three occupants were removed to area hospitals for treatment of various injuries which included smoke inhalation and burns of varying degrees.
 
Homicide Squad reports that two individuals have perished as a result of the fire. Police have identified the deceased as Maria Karpinski, 68, of New Hyde Park and Brooke Schillizzi, 4, of Massapequa Park
 
The injured consist of a 68 year old female and a 4 year old female both listed in serious condition, and a 10 year old male that is listed in stable condition.
 
The New Hyde Park Fire Department was assisted by six other local departments, which consisted of approximately 11 trucks and more than 200 firefighters. 
 
Arson/Bomb Squad detectives responded to the scene and deemed the fire non-criminal but the investigation is ongoing.
