The Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA), which was enacted in 1908, was designed to protect railroad employees. FELA allows railroad workers to sue their employer for damages, even those that are not covered by workmen's comp laws. This includes claims for negligence as well as damages that are not diminished by the worker's assumption risk.
