Rail workers face a lot of dangers on the job. The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was enacted by Congress to tackle this issue. The law excludes them from state workers' compensation statutes. The law also permits the determination of monetary compensation by juries on the basis of negligence in a comparative manner.
