Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability (FELA) provides a special legal entitlement to compensation for railroad workers who suffer injuries. Unlike the state laws governing workers' compensation that are federally enforceable, this law requires injured railroad employees to show that their employers were negligent.

Congress approved the FELA in 1908
