Diagnosing ADHD in the UK

GPs in England, Scotland and Wales can't diagnose ADHD but they can refer you to an NHS specialist to conduct an assessment. This is known as a 'right to choose' referral.

A thorough ADHD assessment can take between 45 and 90 minutes. The psychiatrist may request that you complete questionnaires or provide evidence, such as old school documents.
