Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA)

Railroad workers face many risks while on the job. The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was passed by Congress to solve this problem. The law allows them to be exempt from state laws on workers' compensation. The law also allows for cash payouts to be determined by juries based on the evidence of negligence in a comparative manner.
