Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA)

Railroad workers are exposed to a variety of dangers working in the field. This is one of the reasons Congress approved the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA). The law exempts employers from the state's workers compensation laws. It also allows monetary payouts which are decided by juries based on the comparative negligence.
