The Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was enacted in 1908 to help protect railroad workers. FELA allows railroad workers to sue their employers for damages, even those that are not covered under workmen's comp laws. This includes negligence claims and damages that are not reduced by the worker's assumption of risk.
