What is Pragmatics?

Pragmatics is the study of the connection between context, language and meaning. It addresses questions like what do people mean by the words they use?

It's a philosophies of practical and sensible action. It differs from idealism which is the idea that one must adhere to their beliefs regardless of the circumstances.
