Not all burglars bother with opening a door or window carefully. Some simply smash a glass pane to gain entry quickly. In noisy areas, such as those near train tracks, the sound of breaking glass might not attract much attention. Glass break sensors, however, detect the unique vibrations caused by shattering glass and immediately trigger an alarm.
