Federal Employers Liability Act

The risk of injury and death on railroads led Congress to adopt the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) in 1908. FELA changed the common law by permitting injured workers to claim damages even in the event that their employer was not negligent.

They can also file a claim with no fear of losing their job or being retaliated against by their
