The Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was passed in 1908 to help protect railroad workers. FELA allows railroad workers to sue their employers for damages, which includes those not covered by standard workers' compensation laws. This includes negligence claims as well as damages that are not reduced by the employee's assumption of risk.
