The Federal Employers Liability Act

The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) was enacted in 1908 to protect railroad workers. FELA allows railroad employees to sue their employers for damages, which includes ones that aren't covered by standard workers' compensation laws. This includes claims for negligence and damages that aren't reduced due to the worker's assumption of risk.
