Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA)

The Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) is a unique law that protects injured railroad workers. Contrary to the workers' compensation statutes, FELA is a fault-based statute and requires employers to prove that their negligence played a part in the employee's injury or illness.
