Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA)

Rail workers are exposed to a variety of dangers while working. This is one of the reasons Congress enacted the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA). The law exempts employers from state workers compensation laws. The law also allows for the determination of monetary compensation by juries on the basis of negligence in a comparative manner.
