The A1 license allows riders to ride with no L-plates on a motorcycle, transport passengers as pillions and ride on motorways. It is available at age 17 after passing CBT.

After two years you can upgrade your license to full A by taking the direct or progressive access route. Both methods require a theory as well as a practical test.
